Our Counsellors

Rebekah Skalinder

Rebekah is a therapeutic counsellor and is also certified in Cartier Farm’s Equine Assisted Learning program as a facilitator. She is excited to merge horses and therapeutic practices. In her therapy sessions, Rebekah uses strength-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) with a person-centred approach that is catered towards what the client is wanting and needing help with. These interventions are used while working with the horse in session. Her scope of practice is mainly working with children/youth who have Autism, ADHD, Anxiety or Depression and family therapy. She believes horses provide calm, honest feedback and have a unique ability to meet us where we’re at.

Rebekah grew up with a love for horses. She started riding at around 3 years old and has been riding ever since. She spent every hour possible at the barn from a very early age. Now, she still enjoys riding horses in the hunter/jumpers in her spare time. She’s completed horsemanship levels and worked as a summer student for some of the top barns in Ontario.

Rebekah is currently offering Equine Therapy sessions or Equine Assisted Learning, Therapy workshops or Group sessions. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about what a session looks like or if you would like to see if equine therapy is the right fit for you or your child.
